Creativity in Schools
Submitted by briancsmith on Fri, 10/16/2009 - 07:03As we move to using more and more technology for learning, productivity seems to take the lead. The following TED videos are centered around creativity. The first, which you may or may not have seen, is from Sir Ken Robinson talks about how schools might be killing creativity. Sir Ken also happens to be one of a great line up of keynote speakers at the annual NYSCATE Conference held here in Rochester next month.
How might we bring more creative uses of technology for learning in our school communities? How does our view of individuals (students and colleagues) effect how we teach and work?
The Good Stuff
Submitted by briancsmith on Tue, 04/28/2009 - 13:10I don't know where you get your "good stuff" but I've got a bunch sitting in my Google Reader RSS feeds that provide me with lots of thinking and tinkering to do. One of those is Sylvia Martinez, president of GenYES, who writes the GenYES Blog. Two recent posts by Sylvia provide information of considerable worth to educators.
Two Grant Opportunities
Submitted by tadgeobrien on Thu, 01/15/2009 - 14:55Two emails that I read today related to literacy grants. One if for Improving Literacy Through School Libraries Competition through the Federal government. The other is from the New York State Educational Media/Technology Association (EMTA) looking at Media Literacy. I just wanted to quickly share this out.
