Student Technology Survey 2.0 - NEW!

A short survey has been posted for student input on the development of a New York State Educational Technology Plan. The Student Technology Survey 2.0 is for students at all levels and stages of learning. What kinds of technology do you use both in and out of school? What kinds of technology do you want to use, and how? This survey is an updated version of a student technology survey released by the State Education Department in June 2009.

The deadline for completing the survey is September 30, 2009.

To learn more about the statewide EdTech Plan visit http://www.emsc.nysed.gov/edtech/ where you can download the Draft Plan and learn more about upcoming Community Forums on the state and future of Educational Technology in New York State.

Mapping Secondary School Minds

You already inspire your students. Why not let them inspire you?
Inspiration software allows your student to show their thinking and
helps them organize their thoughts in a multitude of ways. You can tap
into the different intellingences that your students possess, from
visual-spatial intelligence to logical-mathematical intelligence. You
will learn a new way to help your students show their thoughts and what
they have learned using this software.

A True Assessment of Technology Understanding

Recently we had a discussion with a fellow Instructional Technology Specialist, and one of the things that we started talking about was the use of technology versus the use of specific applications. I believe that the question started simply by suggesting that why should schools be so concerned with whether a students can create a publication with Microsoft Word? The initial response was related to shouldn't students be able to do this no matter what technology they have at hand? So here are a few different assessments to think about.
